Just walking into the baby section at Walmart is enough to overwhelm any new or prospective parent! Here are some basic things you will want to know before baby makes that grand entrance: 1. Babies need the same things older children and adults do: air, water, food, shelter, comfortable temperatures, and clean clothing. They also need cuddling and will observe and learn from your every movement and word. 2. Babies go through 3 times the number of outfits in one hour that most adults need in a day. You will need twice as many outfits as normal for yourself during this time. 3. You can never have too many burp cloths or diapers. 4. Even brand new babies have personalities and preferences. If a favorite pacifier is missing, it can mean big trouble! Make sure you have several backups in the car, at home, in the diaper bag. . . 5. Age designations for clothing and toys are only an estimate! Use your best judgement. 6. Take old wive's tales with a large grain of salt. No, it won't tangle the umbilical cord if you raise your hands over your head! 7. Crying is the only way a newborn can alert the world that he (or she) needs something. It's okay for you to cry, too-but if that happens too much you might want to get some advice from a trusted friend, family member or your doctor. Don't take it out on the baby. Nobody is an island. ![]() Save Your Favorite Photos as Tapestry! Actual Pattern Shown
