Getting to sleep - and staying asleep - doesn't have to be agonizing! These experts and products can help, along with perhaps a cup of hot chocolate. Relax, breathe deep, empty the mind, before you know it you are waking up refreshed and ready for tomorrow. . . A word here to CPAP users: I've been on this sleep therapy for 3 years now, and it has literally saved my life. Mask design is continually evolving, but recently I started using the Respironics Swift mask. This one has taken almost no time to get used to and is by far the best mask I have tried. If you're having trouble getting used to using your CPAP equipment, don't give up! I have a relative who suffers from terrible nightmares and health problems due to nighttime oxygen shortage. She was prescribed CPAP but didn't stick it out until she got used to the mask, and went right back to her difficult life. It is now known that use of CPAP restores damage that lack of oxygen does to the system, including cardiovascular deterioration. It won't get rid of cholesterol but it will help heal damaged tissues that have suffered from sleep apnea. It's not just your ability to concentrate during the day! I used to wake up physically gray and with double vision, but with CPAP that is all gone. I have more hours during the day, more energy, and amazingly my muscles can work harder now that they are not deprived of oxygen. Weakness, I thought, was from post polio syndrome-but it turned out to be the apnea. I hope your experience with sleep therapy is as rewarding!
