I've been doing accounting and taxes for a long time, and find business matters to be both logical and interesting. Still, I was not raised to think in financial terms. In the past several months, I've been playing Monopoly(r) on my computer and have become bored with just winning and losing. It occured to me to try to set up a stasis in the game and boost my "winnings" to a very high level. Once I was in a position to control much of the property on the board, it was not difficult to build, sell, mortgage and unmortgage as the game has progressed. As my opponent gains or loses assets, I simply change the rent situation on the properties I control so that the opponent doesn't wipe out and my own account continues to grow. I call the game file the "Zillionaire Club". Don't know how long this will last before I become bored with it and move on, but in watching the game dynamics I have become interested in real economics. There are those who have managed to build real empires similarly based on one thing or another. I've observed that success is based on many things: who you know, what you know, where you came from and where you intend to go. Personality can play a big part in leadership and success, so don't just know the laws and procedures in running an enterprise. Know how you interact with others and hone that so everybody wins. Here are some great resources to guide you along the way.
