Volunteers are the backbone of many community services, from church offices to rescue workers, school aids and cleanup taskforces. Without people who volunteer their time, no paid work force would be available to take care of many of our most essential crisis centers, and volunteers from every major country in the world send folks to third world areas to assist in education, building and medical care. I've been personally helped by Red Cross volunteers following hurrican Ivan in Pensacola, who were able to get me help with my CPAP machine when there was no other resource. No thanks is sufficient for the countless hours and sacrifices made by these great people!
