Industry and trucking are two key processes that keep the nation going. We can only imagine what life was like before modern industrialization and the nation's road systems were put into place. It wasn't that long ago! My mother's childhood was full of memories of the ice man arriving daily to stock the cooler (no refrigerators) and her mother earning a living doing neighborhood ironing with a heating plate. My grandfather laid the first telephone lines in the Los Angeles area (I have some great antique photos). I grew up without a telephone in the house until I was in my late teens, and black and white television. Many things that seem common and essential to us today were whimsy just a few decades ago. Industry has grown in response to customer demands, mushrooming in every city and creating some of its own. Hats off to industry!
