Easter celebrations take place at the most appropriate time, when spring is budding and new life is all around. There has been much hullaballo regarding Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" and it's important to know that Jesus suffered on our behalf. However, it seems more important to pay attention to the message Christ brought us than to focus only on his injuries, rejection and pain. Jesus himself said that death is not a time for grief. Easter should be a time of great rejoicing, to realize anew that we have life and have it more abundantly because of what He teaches us about living - and what he offers for the future. He is risen, and invites us to join Him. Alleluia!
